So much to do

Even thou I was able to get some gardening in you can see by the picture there is so much to do and I have little time to do it right now.  For some reason this year I just could not keep up with the growth of weeds. Then on top of that, some of the veggies just didn't preform like they should of. My guess is the cooler temps in early summer, then above normal rainfall in the summer. So now it's getting close to our first frost and Grammy needs to be leaving to go visit the "little dudes" Plans are to tend to harvesting whats left before I go and then worry about most of the clean up when I get back. Was able to get one block made from The Farmer's Wife 1930's book and went looking for the pink fabric used in this block but had no luck. Did find the green so I guess I'll use that. Think all white border might be a little to plain seeing how it needs at least a 6' border just to make it 36". Woul

How to Make a Cool Car Trash Bag

This is my trash bag but it was not an original ideal, I saw it over at  Meridian Road   awhile back and realize that this was something I needed bad. You see I am notorious for throwing my trash into the back and would forget about it. Now that I have my new car and not the farm truck, I wanted to get out of that habit. What made this bag stand out for me was the fact that you can seal the bag shut so trash won't fall out and will keep the smell in and not in your car. Doesn't it look sharp, now the one I saw was made from an old money bag, I do not have an old money bag but I thought this ticking fabric would look good. Very easy to make and I'll share how I did mine, you can also see how she made her at her blog too. Start with a large Zip Lock bag and cut out 2 pieces of fabric about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch longer around the sides and about 1 1/2 inch at the top.  Sew the side seams, I had a fold on the bottom so I didn't need to sew the bottom but i

How to needle turn on your machine

I had very briefly mentioned a product I use when I do an invisible style machine applique the other day and I am going to go into some detail on how. I do this needle turned look on my sewing machine. I have not invented anything new I was shown this technique by my friend Pam of  Sager Creek Quilt Shop . Also if you want to find any of these products you can purchase them there online from her shop. OK  let me get started here, I am taking part of a bee over at S tash Bee  and in our hive we were asked to make Sunni a tree block so this is mine  To help me get the fabric to turn under is this paper by Ricky Tim. It's your pattern, template, you keep it on your fabric when you sew it down and you leave it in when done. When wet or washed it becomes a soft layer of polyester fibers.   You will also need a few other items. Paper and fabric scissors, pencil for marking, glue stick (acid-free & water-solvable) I like Elmer's school purple. It is smooth, covers
