Peaceful Sunday

It has been another one of those weeks. Had family from out of state come to visit with my parents and which I was over at their house everyday and then Doctor visits Friday.  My DS and I went to Pawhaska to Ree Drummond's  Mercantile store and we were also able to go to the Lodge where they film her cooking show on the food Network I wish I would of took more pictures but there was quite the crowd. Love this huge fireplace. FYI; every bedroom has its own full bathroom and there was 5(?) bedrooms Yesterday needed to go by my parents house and deliver dinner for them. Tried out a new recipes they had printed out at the clinic that was low in sodium.  Lemonade Chicken Was pretty tasty. I haven't been able to do any sewing but had started a new embroidery project   Halloween Journey by Crabapple Hill I started this 2 weeks ago. I'm using a printable sticky transfer that is water solvable by Sulky Took 4 sheets to get all o

Stash, 15 mins and more

Here it is Sunday already and tomorrow the grandsons fly back home, their visit was way too short. But I have to say it wasn't one of our best thou. Ben was sick the whole time. He was congested like my daughter and then for the next 3 days he had a temp, stuffed up and a daily bout of throwing up. In fact on the way to the airport to pick up their mom he threw up in the car. Oh my what a mess and stunk, phew wee. Just hope he does okay on the plane ride home. Now on to more pleasant stuff. Last year I started keeping track of stash usage. I did really well until about October and then I really didn't do much to add to the total.  So my ending total usage 55 3/4 yards. I was hoping for more but at least it was to the good. Now for the start of 2018 It's easy one, this week I used a yard and half from my stash. Brought nothing in This also means I need to redo the stash report on the side here. I also going to add something else new Kate at Life in Piec

Here Kitty, Kitty

I said I would show more of the peek from yesterday but before I do like to tell you how I decided I just had to have a few more Kitties On Facebook a couple weeks ago someone had posted this picture and it was love at first sight. I went in search of items. Instead of real pumpkin I went ahead and bought one of those fake pumpkin you can carve and little foam ones too.  Didn't find enough ribbon I liked so I made one of my own using fabric. Found some small pumpkins at dollar tree but they were not all plain, had words and stripes on some so I went and painted over that stuff to make them just plain. This white one had stripes. Instead of hot gluing on the ears I just cut slits and inserted the ears. Had animals eyes so used those instead of black thumbtacks but did have to purchase some black wire for whiskers. In the direction it said to use florist foam but didn't know that, I just stuff the pumpkin with shredded paper an

Slow Sunday

It has been so nice today, morning temps in the fifties and a sunny fall day. Started my day with a 3.5 mile bike ride....which felt great. Later I put a turkey in the oven to slow cook, the "man of the place" ask if I could make a turkey with some the of fix'en, said he has been craving this for a month now. I know Thanksgiving is just a little over a month away but I couldn't convince them to wait.    I do have to say it was very tasty and we will have plenty of leftover since it's just two of us. This evening I will spend time sewing the binding on the William Morris. I enjoy sewing down binding, find it relaxing. Earlier today I did finish my daughter slippers and they turned good but I personally like the other pattern I made a couple weeks ago. Now I'm wanting to Spicier Life CAL Hope all is well for you.  Linking up with Kathy's Quilt

Slow and Steady Sunday

It has been a lazy day for me. Woke up to a nice cool morning and had a cup of coffee with the man of the place on the back porch. After that I came in the house and watch some of what was going on in Florida. Just frightening... Read some ..... had a nap.... did get a little sewing. Prep some more sashing for the Vintage Garden and did stitch one today. Figure  when I get the top row sashing stitch I'll go ahead and assemble.  Been quilting each morning this week while watch the morning news. It isn't much, maybe an hour but it will add up.  I can get one of these done in an hour. Have 14 more besides the background spaces. Then of course the last, border. This quilt has been one of those off and on ones for so many years and I want it to be finished. Just don't want it to be many more years before it is.  It was also a good day to make yogurt which takes all day to incubate. If you hadn't had homemade y

Sunday

I have been finishing up appliqueing the hexagons circles to the floral centers.  I have done this two ways.... one with the shape in and out.  Found it easier with the shape out. I would remove the shape and press with some starch so it would be flat and crisp. Next will be to get them all sewn down to the background which will be the center of the quilt. Linking up with Kathy's Quilt.   That is about all I can get done seeing how tomorrow morning I'm getting a colonoscopy.....FUN...FUN...

Slow and Steady

It has been a good day, the weather for most of the day was cloudy, breezy and cool. Gave me the opportunity to get a bit done outside and help "the man of the place" with the cows. It's time to take the calves off to market. After that, I enjoyed some piecework.  Started this last weekend to take with me to the retreat Dreamy Hexagon   ( from the pattern book Quilt Grandeur ) Made little progress then but have been working on it this week and have two of the seven done.  So love the colors and tonight I'm working a muted green and pink hexagons while watching Game of Thrones. Also today I drug out my loom. A while back I had started this scarf and had put it away while the boys were here.  Pretty close to the end and need to get it off the loom because I would like to make some wash cloths out of all the cotton thread I have. Still bothers my wrists to knit so I might as well weave some. Who knows I might like them better. Y

Slow Sunday

I can say for a fact, my Sunday has been slow, a slow progress was made. Today I have spent all day prepping various projects I plan to take to a retreat I'm going to in two weeks. Well at least that was my intention. I think I got a little carried away when I went looking for some fabric out in the garage and found a couple projects that I've been wanting to do for a couple years now. One is a  Kaffe Fassett  kit I had purchased on one of our quilt shops bus trips.  And another was one that I had started, Oh it least seven years ago. Have all the appliquéd blocks completed but need to do the sashing and borders. But the ones that I intended to do, which is a QAL over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict which is her Trip Around the World. Part of her 12 days of Christmas blog hop. Got the strips cut and now ready. Another is going to be a baby quilt using one of Deb Tucker's patterns called Tumbling Triangles. I have the strips
