So Forgetful

I stopped working on the So Big Scrappy quilt to finish up the last 30's quilt. I so thought we were having our last meeting and have been trying to get it completed. Well yesterday I knew it wouldn't be totally done (lacking border) but would still bring it as is. I decided to go with the green inside and blue outer. I assembled the four outer corners together and then the sides. I wanted to have no Y seams and didn't  by sewing it this way. Once that was completed I was ready to put on the blue strips. That was all I could do for now. While at the shop I would get some fabric similar to this fat quarter I had. First thing before going to the meeting I went and had my hair cut. Seeing how I just took off about 3" of the colored hair I didn't bother with a before and after. Really no change other than somewhat shorter and very cleaned looking. So after all that done I found out that the meeting was not to be thi

What's Up 7.9.18

I have had a busy past 3 days that I was too tired to write. When I'm tired I have very short sentences and feel like it's just not a good post. Friday I went to my parents house to play cards with my aunt and uncle who are here from Salt Lake. Mom is feeling good and so we had a good time playing a few games. Saturday I did get a little time in the sewing room. Mom is going to make a quilt for one of the grand kids. She has problems rotary cutting so I did it for her Found this pattern in one of her magazine and purchase fabric at JoAnns    I cut, labeled and bag the pieces that way she should be able to find what she needs. Then there is the hay. It is that time of year we cut and bale hay. And my job is to help haul it out of the fields to the hay lane where it is kept till needed I drove the "babe getter"  This truck "the Man of the Place" purchased new in 1978 and named it. He said all he had to do is drive this truc

Day 16

I did it again, missed a day on the  I have done better than I thought I would, especially since my blog has been neglected last month.  Well yesterday I tended to a few things around here and then I needed to finish next month BOM for the 30's club After it was done drove over to Siloam Springs to drop these off at the quilt shop. We visited for a while and I was given a pattern for the next stash buster. Stash Busters meet ever other month at the shop and I had to miss the meeting because I'm at the Master Gardening class on that day so Pam gave me the pattern. It is a free pattern by Windham Fabric called "All Wrapped Up" http://www.windhamfabrics.net/cgi-bin/fabricshop/projects.cgi?patternID=507 Cute pattern and I have a good stash of Christmas fabric and really would like to make this. Just not sure if I can make the time. There are a few items I want to make as gifts and they will need to come first. There is a gift I finished la

Tid bits and Poinsettia Care

What a perfect Sunday and feeling blessed.... which hope yours is too. Was able to get a little sewing in this morning, this Tuesday is 30's Club and I want to have Jan. and Feb. BOM ready to give Pam so she can make up kits for participance. Along with sewing I cooked up a double batch of no-salt spaghetti sauce to share with my parents. Tomorrow mom has her CHF check up and just give it to them. This evening I plan on doing a few more hats to donate to http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/Affiliate/Little-Hats-Big-Hearts_UCM_487734_SubHomePage.jsp I am running out of this soft red yarn.  Do have this  but I find it scratchy which I can use on something else, so maybe when in Tulsa I'll go by Joann's or something to get some soft yarn. And work on weaving up some more wash clothes. I have 2 blooming poinsettia plants (Euphorbia pulcherrima) so far this year and it is one of my favorite houseplants that I eagerly wait each ye

Fuzzy Cute Visitor

Yesterday my sister went out to the hen house to give the girls a treat. I have been keeping them locked up in their yard half the day and will let them go free ranging the rest of the day.  Well when my sister went out there she had open the main gate to get in the hen yard, when she did she noticed something in the hen house. Being a city girl she didn't know what it was and shut the door to the hen house before she came to get me. It was a groundhog.....I believe it to be the same one that I have been seeing around the house eating fallen sunflower seeds under the bird feeders.  Had posted this picture last month. They are so cute and are vegetarian.... which means they will not hurt the girls or eat their eggs but they do eat a good amount of the chicken feed I have in the hen house.  I'm going to have to figure out a way to make it stop. I might have to relocate it if it doesn't stop. This evening was the 30's Club at Sager Creek

30's Club

Tonight is our monthly 30's Club at Sager Creek and we have a very good turn out. Must be because of the spring like weather we are having.  There was 16 of us. So today I spent the day working on next months blocks. That leaves only one month left to do and boy will I be ready for this to be completed.  Tonight I went home with all the completed blocks that I had made for the class. Even though I had made them, they stayed here at the shop.  I have a setting I want to use that isn't the one that's in the book  Like this one here's Now I need to decide what I want to use for the color squares. I figure it will be another solid but needs to be 30's related colors. My goal is to have this assembly by the April meeting. By then everyone have all the kits and maybe they'll  them done.  I'm hoping that this will give them ideas to consider. Would like to show now the stuff others brought in for show and tell.
